STREET ART

First Can: Intro to Aerosol & Stencils

Try spray paint, stencils, paste-ups and different cap styles in a low-pressure workshop built for beginners. You’ll learn the basics of spray control, stencil cutting, layering and mixed street-art techniques, get comfortable with safety equipment and workspace setup, and experiment with how different caps and tools change the way paint behaves. You’ll put everything into practice on your own 18 × 24-inch wood panel and leave with a finished piece plus a practical introduction to the tools and techniques used in larger street-art projects.
WORKSHOP RUNDOWN

Hour 1: Safety & Stencil Basics

Get familiar with the safety equipment and workspace setup used throughout the workshop, then explore stencil, paste-up and freehand street-art techniques. Design and hand-cut a simple single-layer stencil that you’ll use later on your finished piece.

Hour 2: Spray Control & Cap Styles

Practise controlling a spray can through distance, hand speed and line width while testing fat, skinny and needle caps. Prepare your 18 × 24-inch wood panel and begin building the first painted layers using your stencil and newly practised spray techniques.

Hour 3: Paste-Ups & Layering

Explore wheatpaste, paper elements and paint markers while combining different street-art techniques on your panel. Build depth through layering and learn how to recognize and correct common issues such as runs, overspray and bleeding edges.

Hour 4: Finish & Display

Complete the final details of your panel, then bring the finished pieces together for a collaborative display and photos. Wrap up by looking at how the same techniques can scale into larger street-art projects before packing down and taking your artwork home.
