Who Is DAWD?
Dave Fortier
Ottawa based artist, Dave Fortier, has been honing his unique style since 2013. Inspired by artists Basquiat, Keith Haring, Riopelle, and Willem de Kooning, he has been exploring different mediums, texture, bold shapes, crisp lines, and loud colour combinations. Working primarily with acrylic, oils, charcoal, and inks, Dave transforms a blank canvas into a multi-sensory playground of composition and colour saturation. Finding fluidity within the bold chaos of his studio, he produces large engaging pieces that draw your attention in and keep you there.
Discovering colour blindness at a young age, his unique perception of colour allows him to challenge traditional concepts and composition and has greatly influenced his unorthodox style and fearless approach to painting.
DAWD stands for Dinkin Around With Dave his Instagram handle.
