Street Offerings - Show by Coblou
Join us on February 9th, from 5-9 PM at Urban Art Collective for the opening of the Street Offerings Show by Coblou, where art meets urban adventure.
Street Offerings is a Street Art project that started in 2020 as a way for Coblou to reconnect to herself, urban cities and to other humans. Since then, she has hidden hundreds of art pieces across Canada.
This project is her way of exploring and interacting with the city as she leaves behind a trail of her creations as gifts for others to find. Her hope for this initiative is to encourage others to get out and explore the vibrancy of their urban environment in an interactive way. These offerings leave room for synchronicity and offer a playful energy exchange between the Artist and her Patrons.
All proceeds of sales in this series go directly back to funding more free art to embellish the streets of Ottawa and other cities she visits.
The show will run from February 9th to March 9th, the Vernissage is February 9th from 5-9PM.
What is a Street Offering?
A Street Offering Is
A unique piece of art that is intentionally left in public spaces for people to discover and take home if they wish. These artworks are placed around urban landscapes, tucked into corners of the city, often where they blend into the environment yet stand out enough to catch the eye of a passerby. The intention is to create a moment of surprise and delight, to disrupt the routine of everyday life with a spontaneous encounter with art.
Here are just a few of the hundreds of Street Offerings created and set adrift in the world by Coblou.
Who Is Coblou?
Corinne Blouin aka Co/Coblou
Is a multidisciplinary artist, with a background in graphic design. She uses her art to explore concepts of dreamlike dimensions through various media such as illustration, painting and most recently, tattooing.
You can find her visually contributing to the local festival scenes through street art and find her murals painted around Ottawa.
She also DJs under the alias Bleu Pâle as a way to connect to her love of dance music and the culture that surrounds it. Through that, she explores an eclectic mix of psychedelic electronic and breakbeats that move energy. Her focus is on sounds that put us into flow and encourage self love/discovery on the dance floor.
