Own Your Work: Build Your Artist Website

Build a real portfolio website that you own and control, and leave with it live by the end of the workshop. Starting from a tested artist portfolio template, you’ll add your own artwork and bio, customize colours, typography and layout, and learn enough about how the site works to keep it updated yourself. You’ll also work through publishing, optional custom domains and connecting your wider online presence, leaving with a site you can continue using for free as your practice grows.
WORKSHOP RUNDOWN

Part 1: Own Your Online Presence

Understand the difference between renting your presence through platforms and owning your own website. Learn how the site is structured, where its files live and how content gets published, then bring your template online and open your live website for the first time.

Part 2: Curate Your Work

Add your own artwork, titles, descriptions and artist bio while exploring how portfolio curation shapes the way people understand your practice. Arrange your work, make decisions about what belongs on the site and learn how to add or manage new pieces later.

Part 3: Make It Yours

Customize the site using colours drawn from your own artwork, typography, layout and visual density. Make simple changes to the website code and see the results live while learning how a template can be adapted rather than treated as a fixed design.

Part 4: Map Your Practice & Keep It Alive

Explore optional tools for mapping where your creative work exists, connecting a custom domain and linking your social platforms. Finish by learning how to update, maintain and expand the website as your practice changes.
