Emphasizing sustainable upcycling, this class incorporates thrifted and repurposed materials to keep items out of landfills while expanding your creative toolkit. Learn punch needle techniques, colour mixing, pattern building, and framing as you develop your unique artistic voice and complete a framed textile piece.

Brit Campbell is a teacher and fibre artist who works in macrame, punch needle and the fine art of convincing old materials they still have one more project in them.

Course Rundown

Class 1: Fibre 101

Explore punch needle artwork examples for inspiration. Get straight into hands-on trial and error by learning how to thread your tool, stretch and secure monk's cloth, and execute fundamental punching techniques on small practice shapes.

Class 2: The Creative Process

Develop your custom design on paper, learn how to transfer 2D drawings onto monk's cloth, and select your frame and yarn colour palette. Begin prepping your canvas and laying down the first foundational stitches of your final piece.

Class 3: Dedicated Production Studio

Work alongside your collective cohort with direct guidance from the instructor. Use this dedicated studio time to execute the main bulk of your textile artwork, mastering density, texture, and pattern work.

Class 4: The Final Countdown

Apply final material trims, secure your backing, and mount your completed punch needle artwork into a unique thrifted frame. Wrap up with a studio tour and group celebration of everyone's finished artwork.

By The End Of This Course, You Will:

What We Provide

• Textiles & Frame: Monk's cloth, embroidery hoop, yarn selection, and thrifted picture frame (provided).
• Tools: Punch needle tools, scissors, cardstock, and fabric glue (provided).
• Storage: A dedicated studio storage bin is provided to keep project materials safe between classes.
